Crisp, Refreshing Hydration
Staying well-hydrated is one of the most critical daily practices for supporting kidney function and normal uric acid excretion. Water helps the kidneys dilute and flush metabolic waste before crystals have the opportunity to form. This revitalizing cucumber mint lemonade elevates simple water into a crisp, delicious daily tonic.
Cucumber Mint Alkalizing Lemonade
Prep time: 10 mins | Yield: 4 servings
Ingredients:
- 1 large English cucumber, thinly sliced (reserve a few slices for garnish)
- Juice of 3 fresh lemons (approx. 1/2 cup)
- 4 cups cold filtered water
- 8-10 fresh mint leaves, gently bruised
- 1-2 tablespoons raw honey or pure agave (to taste)
- Ice cubes
Instructions:
- In the bottom of a large pitcher, place the cucumber slices and mint leaves. Use a wooden spoon to gently muddle them, releasing their essential oils and juices.
- Pour in the fresh lemon juice and raw honey. Stir thoroughly until the honey dissolves.
- Add the 4 cups of cold filtered water and stir vigorously.
- Refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to allow the flavors to infuse.
- Serve over ice with fresh cucumber wheels and mint sprigs.
Why This Recipe Works
Cucumbers are over 95% water and naturally high in potassium, a mineral that supports electrolyte balance and fluid movement. Lemons, while acidic in their raw form, have an alkalizing metabolic effect in the body when digested. Mint adds cooling aromatics that encourage increased daily fluid intake.*
